2002

In November 2002, Troop 315 participated in the Longhorn Council Camporee "America's Future-Be Prepared", at the Texas Motor Speedway. We spent six months training in first aid, knots, lashes, orienteering, fire building and all of the basic Scouting skills, but mostly team work building. Although only two of our Scouts, Adrian G. and Javier R. were willing to brave the cold, wind and rain they were able to put their training to the test. These two Scouts scored more points than any of the 200 plus Boy Scout Troops that attended. Their teamwork and training is a textbook example of what Scouting can do for a young boy.

Troop 315 meets at 6:00pm every Monday on the All Saints Catholic Church grounds in the Father Hyman Center. The ages for scouting are between 11 and 17 years or completion of the fifth grade.

Scouting is absolutely the best program to get a boy from being a teenager to a young man. This program requires time, patience and some parental involvement. There are various reasons not to join scouting, for those who are interested our website has several key points on how boys will benefit from this program.

Statistics show for every 100 boys who join scouting:

12 will have their first contact with a church
5   will earn their religious emblem
1   will enter the clergy
18 will develop hobbies that will last through their adult lives
1   will use his Boy Scout skills to save his life
1   will use his Boy Scout skills to save someone else's life
17 will become Scouting volunteers
2-4   will become Eagle Scouts

Scouting's alumni record is equally impressive. A recent nation-wide survey of high schools revealed the following information:
85% of student council presidents were Scouts
89% of senior class presidents were Scouts
80% of junior class presidents were Scouts
75% of school publication editors were Scouts
71% of football captains were Scouts
